On Wednesday 7 May over 5,100 Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli Occupation prisons announced they would be going on hunger strike in solidarity with Palestinian administrative detainees now on their 14th day on hunger strike. In solidarity members of SFP announced today they would also be joining the one day hunger strike which will take place on Thursday 8 May.
Wael, ex-prisoner and SFP Steering Committee member said:
In solidarity with the prisoners on hunger strike and their fair demands, and because I am a former prisoner and have lived the suffering they are now living, I am joining the hunger strike on Thursday 8 May. I ask all Palestinian, Arab and international institutions and people to also stand in solidarity with the prisoners in order to achieve their demands for freedom.
Ghassan, ex-prisoner and SFP Steering Committee member said:
In solidarity with the prisoners it is my duty as a former prisoner to support their hunger strike. Their rights are our rights, and in their fight we should stand with them, therefore, I announce I will be on hunger strike.
Katie, SFP international volunteer said:
As Palestinian prisoners maintain their dignity in the face of torture, injustice and oppression, it is our duty as citizens around the world to hear their call for freedom and support them in their struggle. Tomorrow I will be hunger striking to show my solidarity to Palestine’s brave prisoners and to commit to them that, as a citizen of the world, it is also my duty to struggle for their freedom and all of Palestine.
SFP asks people around the world to hear the Palestinian prisoners call and join the hunger strike tomorrow, and tweet and report to raise the issue internationally.
يوم الاربعاء الموافق 7\5 اعلن 5100 اسير فلسطيني في سجون الاحتلال انهم سوف يضربون عن الطعام يوم الخميس الموافق 8\5 تضامنا مع الاسرى الاداريين الذين يدخلون يومهم ال14 للاضراب. و تضامنا معهم, اعلن اعضاء حركة التضامن من اجل فلسطين حرة SFP اليوم انهم سينضمون ايضا للاضراب ليوم واحد يوم غد الخميس 8\5.

تضامنا مع الاسرى المضربين عن الطعام ومع مطالبهم العادله ولانني اسير سايق عانيت ما يعانيه الاسرى فانني اعلن الاضراب عن الطعام يوم الخميس الموافق 8-5 مطالبا كافة المؤسسات الفلسطينيه والعربيه الدوليه وكافة الاحرار الوقوف والتضامن مع الاسرى من اجل تحقيق مطالبهم ومن اجل حريتهم

تضامنا مع الأسرى و بما أني أسير سابق واجب علي ان ادعم الأسرى المضربين عن الطعام و التضامن معهم لان حقوقهم هي حقوقنا لأنهم يناضلون من اجلنا أقف معهم وأعلن الضرائب عن الطعام

في حين يحافظ الاسرى الفلسطسنيين على كرامتهم في وجه التعذيب و الظلم و الاضطهاد فإن من واجبنا كمواطنون حول العالم ان نسمع نداءهم من اجل الحرية و ندعمهم .غدا سوف اضرب عن الطعام لابدي تضامني مع الاسرى الفلسطينيين البواسل و لاثبت لهم اننا كمواطنين في هذا العالم من واجبنا ايضا ان نناضل من اجل حريتهم وحرية فلسطين
