Forward: No Visa Waiver For Israel—Until It Treats U.S. Muslims Equally
The article below is from the Jewish Forward. It points out a very important reason why those of us who are refused entry to Israel should always report this fact to a US consulate and/or the US State Department. It cites Israel’s rejection of Muslim and Arab Americans as the main reason for continuing to exclude Israel from the visa waiver program. But an equally important reason is that Israel doesn’t meet the 3% test mentioned at the end of the article. (I think the actual figure for Israel was around 5% a couple of years ago and probably rising.)
In fact, that figure is probably also low, because many of those refused never report it. That’s why it’s always, always always important to report being turned away, for whatever reason. Reporting it is a form of resistance that creates an impediment for Israel, or at least prevents them from adding another privilege to their collection.
