The International Solidarity Movement-Northern California expresses our strongest support for the #BlackLivesMatter movement and the protests taking place throughout the United States and internationally to demand justice and accountability for police violence, institutionalized racism and structures of oppression that have taken countless Black lives. This movement is not only a response to the police murder of George Floyd – as well as those of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and so many more – but to centuries of enslavement, oppression, subjugation and brutal white supremacist violence at the hands of the state and those it empowers and protects.

As a movement committed to standing against state violence and oppression everywhere and with a deep commitment to the Palestinian people’s struggle for justice and liberation, we recognize how critical it is to support the Black liberation struggle and amplify its calls to dismantle structural racism and defund the police. Here in Northern California, thousands continue to fill the streets stand for justice despite ongoing police violence, repression and curfew.

We encourage all supporters of ISM NorCal to join the protests, support bail funds and take action to support the #BlackLivesMatter movement and the incredibly important struggle for justice taking place at this moment. The Movement for Black Lives has called for a week of action, with resources and information for people to get involved.
