Dear Friends,

As I’m sure many of you are aware the 17th of April is Prisoners’ Day in Palestine. We are keen to support the use of this day to build momentum for the campaign to free the 5 Hares Boys kidnapped by the Israeli army in March 2013. They stand trial in the military court system for 20 counts of attempted murder despite the existence of little to no credible evidence (for more info see  http://haresboys.wordpress.com/). Hares Boys PosterThis would come at a crucial time for the boys campaign as “witnesses” have begun to be called and the year anniversary of the boys detention in Meggido prison passed recently. Having met the majority of the families of the boys in the last week we can say that they fully back our proposal to increase the pressure on the Israeli authorities starting with a day of action on the 17th. We have also had meetings with groups in Palestine such as the International Women’s Peace Service who agree that this could be a very effective action and back this call out. We do appreciate this is not that far away for activists to consider our proposal and make plans but hope that despite this we can still achieve a great deal.

We propose that activists all over the world host events in their home cities at Israeli embassies or buildings of significance to the occupation with a poster of one of the attached images. It would then be great if activists could send photos/videos of their events to ISM at palreports@gmail.com so we can collate them and demonstrate to Israel and the world the international backing that the boys have. We appreciate many activists may already have plans for this day but even if this is the case we would ask groups if they could run alongside their existing plans such an action in support of the Hares boys.

On the day before the event (16th of April) we would also like to coordinate a twitter action. The purpose of which would be to catch the attention of media outlets prior to the day itself with the hope of improving its effectiveness and the scope of its message. For the moment the details of this are still being worked out so for more information please keep checking the Titan Pad created for this event at http://titanpad.com/haresboys

We would like to thank you for taking the time to read this and hope you can support this campaign in some way.

In solidarity,

International Solidarity Movement
